Absolutely loved this book and I really hope I don't have to wait long for the next book. The characters were likeable and well developed. The plot was decent, though this first book seemed to mostly be setting things up for future volumes. I wish there was more of a focus on the romance, but, again, it seems like it will be a larger focus in the second book considering how this one ends, and I really like the romantic interests. I highly recommend anyone who enjoys urban-fantasy lesfic to give this a read.Now, please do not let the following critique deter you from this excellent book, because I didn't find it serious enough to be immersion breaking and the book is very good. However, there is one quirk to this authors writing style that I have not seen in other books that I sometimes found a bit confusing. It's how she writes quotes. She has all quotes as their own dedicated paragraph, then she'll clarify who said that quote at the beginning of the next paragraph.For example:============="So, fairies really don't like metal? That rumor is true?"Anne asked, and I bobbed my head in confirmation.=============Now, I'm no writer or English professor, but I'm pretty sure you don't start a new paragraph clarifying who said the last sentence. It should all be one paragraph. However, you do get used to it, and if you can get past that then you'll really enjoy this book.Now for a slight tangent; This book aside, I'm just so happy to finally have some new urban-fantasy lesfic. It feels like there's been a year+ long drought of good urban-fantasy lesfic. Sure, there were a handful of good ones last year, but there used to be so many authors and series in this niche to keep me satiated, but now it seems like so many of them just disappeared and stopped writing (Casy Mathews, Malanie Jackson, Bridget Essex, Lise MacTague, JAE, Gill McKnight, R.J. Murray, Heather McVea, Alex Westmore, and so many more - WHERE ARE YOU?!). Hope there's much more urban-fantasy lesfic to come, cause it's my favorite genre! There are typos that seem to crop up more and more as the story progresses, numbers alongside letters, like m0ouse, instead of mouse(forget the actual words this happened in) and other smaller spelling errors. The MC is OP, and if thats your bag then no worries, but she feels like she is written to be perfect, and while there are struggles, there's often situations that feel like it's just reexplaining how much better she is than everyone else. Also, she personally is poly, but there's no actual relationships in this first book, she is starting to feel around two different women, so that may change in the future I do not know.
